I'm Just A Girl Who Loves Dresses

When I came up with this title, I half considered re-working this whole blog around that thought.. but for now I'm still The Cat's Meow.

You know it, and I know it. I love dresses and cardigans of all forms, styles, and colors. It is starting to get warm here in New England and busy at work.. that combo lead me to a comfortable jersey dress! Looking back at this outfit I don't see my usual pop of color... I am think next time I will add a turquoise necklace, but for this outfit I stayed with the pink and white combo.

Jackie vs. Fast Fashion

My last blog post I talked about the latest trend of midi skirts, and a 70's theme, and how I am struggling with the trend. Shortly after I posted that post, I was looking through 'What Would Jackie Do?' and came across the perfect topic for today... Fast Fashions!

The authors of the book really give us a great view of what Jackie really would do... and following the latest trends is something she didn't. (Although she was the latest trend.. HA) Jackie wouldn't buy a dress because it was expensive and trendy, but only if it fit her figure and her personally.

Working in fashion it is hard to avoid falling for trendy silhouettes, but fashion isn't always about being trendy, it is more about looking good in what you wear. For me- why obsess over the midi skirt when I know it doesn't fit my figure??

Don't fall for fashions, create them... that is what Jackie Would Do.

My Version of Your Trend

I have been struggling with the latest trend of 70's inspired patterns, and shapes. I am not used to the mid and maxi skirt lengths, the patterns, and the boho themes (I tend to be more preppy!). I have been searching for the right skirt to try to rock a 70's inspired look, and I found this at Old Navy. This skirt was supposed to be a midi, but I went down a size and wore it a bit higher on my waist to make it my own version!

Don't these shoes match perfectly! I also dragged Jimmy out to take these photos, he even grabbed his favorite hat for the shot.

Falling For Spring

Although Spring has sprung here in New England, I find myself grabbing warmer, fallier colors. It has been a bit rainier here so maybe the cloudiness is to blame...

This whole outfit was a huge score- Dress-10 bucks, Cardi- 4 bucks, Necklace- Free, Flats- 15 bucks!! Everyone says I shop to much but when I do, I shop in style!!

You can thank Matt for driving to meet me for 10 minutes to take these pictures on my break!! Starbucks in hand!

Jackie's Daily Bread

A few weeks ago I went on a girls weekend to the beautiful Newport, RI. As we toured multi billion dollar mansions, I came across a book in one of the gift stores. "What Would Jackie Do?" by Shelly Branch and Sue Callaway shares life lessons seen through the eyes of Jackie O! I fell in love with the book and had to take it home!

Every once and a while I want to share with you some of the lessons I am learning from Jackie!

"Overlook faux pas..."
I love the world of fashion, but sometimes it is hard to not fall into trends because others are doing so. I am a huge fan of personal style, (although I tend to wear the same uniform of dress and cardi everyday!!) but as a young fashionista it is hard to not love a Coach bag because it is Coach. One of the first things Jackie has taught me is although you make love your Gucci, love the piece, not the brand.

What Would Jackie Do??

Before I start up my new feature here at The Cat's Meow, I want to hear what you think... tell me, What Would Jackie Do?? After a year here on this blog I hope you know my love affair with Jackie O and her classic, chic style, and I want to share my thoughts on What Jackie Would Do!! Before that post let's here from   all my fashionable readers!

Also, for those of you who I know personally, know I have been buried in school work, but TA DA I will be done Thursday!! I cannot wait to get my life back into order.. which includes The Cat's Meow!

This past week was really rainy in Southern New England, and I hate dressing for rain! My outfits this week were out of my element and I spent as much time as I could in yoga pants and a tee!! With that said, this weekend was quite lovely and I ripped out a dress after a long rainy week.
