Overhaul

I am a girl who loves fashion, but sometimes I get into an artistic rut when it comes to style. A month back I was looking through The Cat's Meow and was seeing the same thing day by day in different versions... and I was not excited about it. I told myself that I would do a closet overhaul and take a vacation from documenting my outfits to search deeper into the world of fashion.

Well... I did the closet overhaul... which basically gave me an excuse to shop more... and picked up some new trendy pieces. I added a maxi dress, a color blocked tunic, lots of polka dots, a new version of my favorite cardi, and a stripped skirt. Oh ya! A pair of Hello Kitty sunglasses too!(Let's be real... we all know I added more then that, HA)

I am looking forward to seeing how I play with some of my new pieces, but I have also determined if it is not broken don't fix it!! While I was going through my closet I fell in love with my clothes all over again. I have decided to do this how I want to, and this has turned into a quest to find myself through fashion.

 So here's the thing...

I'm me. And I love cardigans.

I've got my eye on eyelets

I have recently obsessed with white eyelet blouses lately, and i'm not sure what brought on the new go to for me. Recently I have invested.. yea, i'm calling it an investment.. in three new white eyelet blouses. I think I am loving the eyelet blouse because it is a blank canvas.. you can put any color cami under it and it looks great! This once I grabbed at Gap on sale, and I love the high neck line it has.

It was killing me to wear jeans this time of year, but the day had a chill in the air, and jeans were a must. I added some of my favorite spring color to this outfit to make me feel better about leaving my dresses at home!

You know those shoes you just HAVE to have...

I tend to be a spontaneous shopper, and these shoes are a product of that! We all have those pieces that we fall in love with when we only have 10 minutes to shop, well these shoes called my name from the front of TJMaxx the other day when I ran in with a few minutes to spare. I loved the color, but also the style, they seemed to be comfortable for me to wear to work. We all know I love navy with a pop of color, and I thought my new shoes would go great with a navy dress on this beautiful Sunday.

Indecisive

The rain really puts a damper on my style, and I was so glad it was finally nice outside for me to break out my new summer go-to's! It is an understatement that I have had my eye on this skirt since it came out at work, and I finally bought it! It has a lavender lace like print to it and I don't have much in my closet to match it besides the knit I wore it with.. I am open to any other suggestions!

Out of my Zone

I have been looking back through my posts and as much as I love my dress and cardi uniform I wanted to style my dresses differently. Some inspiration from a few girls at work lead me to try the new trend of knotting a layering piece. I threw on a three quarter sleeve knit over my navy dress and tied it on the side. I love the colors together, but I think I need to stick with my thoughts from Jackie VS. Fast Fashion and stick with what I like.

I'm Just A Girl Who Loves Dresses

When I came up with this title, I half considered re-working this whole blog around that thought.. but for now I'm still The Cat's Meow.

You know it, and I know it. I love dresses and cardigans of all forms, styles, and colors. It is starting to get warm here in New England and busy at work.. that combo lead me to a comfortable jersey dress! Looking back at this outfit I don't see my usual pop of color... I am think next time I will add a turquoise necklace, but for this outfit I stayed with the pink and white combo.

Jackie vs. Fast Fashion

My last blog post I talked about the latest trend of midi skirts, and a 70's theme, and how I am struggling with the trend. Shortly after I posted that post, I was looking through 'What Would Jackie Do?' and came across the perfect topic for today... Fast Fashions!

The authors of the book really give us a great view of what Jackie really would do... and following the latest trends is something she didn't. (Although she was the latest trend.. HA) Jackie wouldn't buy a dress because it was expensive and trendy, but only if it fit her figure and her personally.

Working in fashion it is hard to avoid falling for trendy silhouettes, but fashion isn't always about being trendy, it is more about looking good in what you wear. For me- why obsess over the midi skirt when I know it doesn't fit my figure??

Don't fall for fashions, create them... that is what Jackie Would Do.
